The Liturgy of the Catholic Church is the source and summit of the spiritual life for Catholics, according to the Second Vatican Council.  On Saturday morning the parish offers a special mass that takes advantage of the rubrics, or directives for how the liturgy can be offered, to make available a range of solemnity, grandeur in worship, that is not usually offered in a standard liturgy.  Incense is used at all possible times during the mass.  Latin and Gregorian Chant, which were highly encouraged by the Vatican Council for use in the Liturgy, are a part of this mass.  The liturgy is a hybrid of Latin and English that takes advantage of the best aspects of each language to enhance the dignity of the worship that we offer to God in this Mass.  The beauty of sung Latin is something that the faithful should really try to experience.  The congregation takes part in the chanting with the help of music sheets which have the spoken Latin prayer responses and the Chant settings all together for easy reference.  The use of some Latin, Gregorian Chant and incense add solemnity to the impact of this liturgy upon those who take part in it.

The Blessed Mother has a special place in Saturday morning worship as Saturday is a day devoted to her to help the Christian in preparing well to celebrate the Sunday Liturgy and to keep the Sunday Sabbath rest.  Special masses for the Blessed Mother are offered whenever the regulations for the church's liturgical seasons allow, and at other times she is still invoked in the homilies and petitions during this liturgy.

The beauty that greater solemnity can bring to the experience of the Mass is something that anyone who is seeking to find a new or deeper way to encounter the Lord Jesus through worship will find enriching.
